Venice, Italy. The Bridge of Sighs. Friday, September 12, 2025.<\/p>\n

We’re in a gondola, waiting to pass under this bridge and re-enact a crucial scene from A Little Romance<\/em>. Go watch the movie, or if you’ve seen it already, bring it to mind, and you’ll understand.<\/p>\n

That’s not our gondola in the photo, of course. We did not hire a photographer, as they were all exhausted from some kind of celebrity wedding that had occurred in this city a couple of months prior to our residence.<\/p>\n

But never mind that. Back to this story.<\/p>\n

Once you get the scene from A Little Romance<\/em> in your mind, you’ll just have to imagine me and my extraordinary wife Alice in a gondola in Venice, on that same quest. Well, except we were not adolescents, and I didn’t need to push the gondolier into the canal. He did his duty, gently rowing our craft under this fabled bridge. But the same quest, yes.<\/p>\n

So yes, our vows reaffirmed on that magical day, I say to Alice on this<\/em> day, July 14th, 2026, happy 47th anniversary! We’ll always have Venice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
