{"id":2241,"date":"2014-03-28T08:13:33","date_gmt":"2014-03-28T12:13:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gardnercampbell.net\/blog1\/?p=2241"},"modified":"2014-03-28T08:13:33","modified_gmt":"2014-03-28T12:13:33","slug":"a-quick-thought-about-web-syndication","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gardnercampbell.net\/blog1\/a-quick-thought-about-web-syndication\/","title":{"rendered":"A quick thought about web syndication"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been working with some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.educause.edu\/about\/mission-and-organization\/governance-and-leadership\/member-committees\/eli-7-things-you-should-know-about-advisory-group\">mighty stellar colleagues<\/a>\u00a0(including <a href=\"http:\/\/bryanalexander.org\/\">Bryan Alexander<\/a>, not pictured, as few cameras can contain his multitudinousity) on a new EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.educause.edu\/research-and-publications\/7-things-you-should-know-about\">7 Things You Should Know About<\/a>&#8230;&#8221; piece focusing on web syndication. We&#8217;re closing in on the final form of the document, and it&#8217;s been very exciting to try to articulate this rich, elusive conceptual foundation to &#8220;thinking like the web.&#8221; (My best teacher in this area, as in many others, has been <a href=\"http:\/\/blog,jonudell.net\">Jon Udell<\/a>&#8211;though he bears no responsibility for my errors, of course. My errors are original.)<\/p>\n<p>This thought just came to me, and I wanted to record it here:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Web syndication really does think about the web as a vast database, and each site on the web as potentially a dynamic, curated representation or slice of that database.
