{"id":1367,"date":"2010-07-31T23:13:16","date_gmt":"2010-08-01T05:13:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gardnercampbell.net\/blog1\/?p=1367"},"modified":"2010-07-31T23:18:01","modified_gmt":"2010-08-01T05:18:01","slug":"digital-citizenship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gardnercampbell.net\/blog1\/digital-citizenship\/","title":{"rendered":"Digital Citizenship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In honor of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bavatuesdays.com\">Jim Groom<\/a>, who did some astonishing work at Baylor over the last few days, I&#8217;m going to try to pick up the pace a bit&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Two weeks ago I was a respondent and workgroup facilitator for the <a href=\"http:\/\/events.campustechnology.com\/events\/ct-2010\/home.aspx\">2010 Campus Technology Executive Summit<\/a> in Boston, Mass. In my respondent role, I did a very short presentation speaking to the subject Susan Metros of USC was addressing. My presentation was titled &#8220;Digital Citizenship,&#8221; a phrase that I did not invent but which I&#8217;ve been working with, and on, for the last few months. I&#8217;m trying to get to the next steps after digital fluency, the steps that might finally inform an entire curriculum. I started with a little album of YouTube videos illustrating the varieties of instruction on this website:<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"400\" height=\"250\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/8RwRnfuRJ6c&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><\/object><\/p>\n<p>I picked these because they were all different, and all rigorous in their own ways. All posed vigorous challenges to our typical school practices of teaching, writing, and learning.
